Steven Long

Steven is the co-owner of GSM Services and Presidential of the Residential Divisions.  He has worked at GSM since 1993. 

He is or has been involved with many community organizations that includes the Rotary Club of Gastonia (Past-President 2011-12; Past Board Member; Distinguished Rotarian 2012-13; Paul Harris Fellow), The United Way of Gaston County (Past Board Member; Past Chair of the Board 2021; Past Board Member 2005-08), Gaston Together (Current Advisory Council Member, Past Advisory Council Chair 2020), Gaston Community Foundation (Past Board Member, Past Chair – Next Generation Fund), Gaston Police Foundation (Past Board Member).  He is a member of First United Methodist Church (Past Chair – Building & Grounds; Past Member – Board of Trustees; Youth Sports Coach; Confirmation Mentor), United Bank (Past Advisory Council Member).  Current board member – Gaston County Education Foundation.  Current board member of the Gaston County Recovery Court.   

He is a past Board Member of the Mechanical Contractors of NC and active in multiple industry associations that include the Service Nation Alliance, PHCC, and ACCA.  AB advisor through Service Nation Alliance.   

Host of the Gaston’s Great podcast in Gaston County since 2021.  

He graduated from Ashbrook High School in 1988; Earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from NC State in 1993. 

Is Married to Janet McBryde (1996) and has three children.  Alex (27), Hannah (25), and Rachel (20) 

His hobbies include jogging/general fitness, personal development/reading/leadership, and is active in the local F3 Group (Fitness, Fellowship, & Faith)
